Barre none tuition assistance program
The Ruth Jerauld “Jerry” Goodpasture Tuition Assistance Fund
Bristol Ballet endeavors never to turn away a dancer simply for inability to pay tuition; however, the costs of teachers, performances, and other operating necessities must be met. This tuition assistance fund will help Bristol Ballet provide quality instruction to those who cannot afford to pay the cost of classes at Bristol Ballet.
The program is open to children ages five and older. Parents may privately apply for assistance by completing a questionnaire and submitting it to the Artistic and School of Ballet Director. The family’s financial need and the student’s interest will be determined and reviewed by the Board of Directors and an offer for tuition assistance or work study, or a combination of both, may be offered upon approval by the Board and the Artistic and School of Ballet Director.
Parameters for awards:
1. Student must be at least five years of age.
2. Student must show genuine interest in class studies.
3. Once awarded tuition assistance, regular attendance and reasonable attention in class is required.
4. Parents or any family member will be asked to perform some volunteer work in exchange for all or part of the assistance.
5. This tuition assistance only covers tuition. Dance wear, costumes, production and registration fees, and other ancillary products are not included in the assistance.
6. Every effort will be made to spread the awards among different age groups/levels.
7. Total withdrawal from the actual tuition assistance fund shall be limited to $1500 annually or as long as funds are available, whichever is less.
8. Awards are made on an annual basis and will be reviewed each semester.
9. Participants must reapply each year.
10. Volunteer work that is not completed, behavioral problems or inability of student or family members to get along with staff, students and volunteers at Bristol Ballet may result in cancellation of assistance.
To apply, please reach out to Moira Frazier Ostrander, Artistic and School of Ballet Director, via email at
mfrazier@bristolballet .org.
We will make every effort to process your application quickly; however, it may take one to two weeks, depending on board member availability and the time of year at which the request is being made.
